How to Earn Cash and Gems

Cash and Gems are the two currencies Dance Interactive actually named in the launch-week how-to. Cash keeps the building and the payroll fantasy running. Gems open packs that can roll dancers, songs, costumes, and teachers. If you mix them up — opening packs while the floor is empty — you stall both.

The official earn loop

The studio’s own graphic, posted for confused new owners:

  1. Build and expand the studio.
  2. Enrol dancers to start earning Cash.
  3. Train them with teachers to improve stats.
  4. Enter competitions to earn Cash and Gems.
  5. Use Gems to open packs and unlock dancers, songs, costumes, teachers, and more.
  6. The bigger you build, the more you can earn.

That is not flavor text. It is the production order. Rooms before enrolment. Enrolment before training spend. Training before you expect judges to pay. Judges before packs.

Cash: enrolment is the engine

Cash starts when dancers are enrolled, not when you stand in the lobby looking pretty. Expand until you have slots, then fill the slots. An empty second story is a vanity project; a filled first story is income. The official second-story tutorial (4 September) is a Cash sink and a capacity upgrade — read build your studio before you dump a huge pile into stairs you cannot staff.

Competitions also pay Cash. Treat regular comps as a top-up, not as your only wage. If Cash is dry, you probably under-enrolled or under-built, not “the game is broken.”

There is no confirmed promo code that prints Cash as of early September 2026. Check codes anyway after events, then come back to enrolment.

Gems: competitions, then packs

Gems are the scarce layer. The official loop points at competitions as the Gem source, and the Roblox Awards post is even clearer: every entrant earns a reward, Top 3 win Gems, winners take a Champion title. That means:

  • Show up to regular Nationals so Gems trickle.
  • Qualify for Awards so the Top 3 purse is even available to you.
  • Do not skip group comps because you “only solo” — qualification needs both.

Owners already comment “how can I get more gems?” The answer is not a hidden rock on the map. It is comps, the Quest tab, plus any future codes. If a YouTuber sells a Gem generator, that is a script scam until proven otherwise.

Gems from the Quest tab

The 31 August live-features post added a second named Gem source: Earn Gems from Quests — click the Quest tab to see what you can earn. That tab is a weekday trickle so you are not sitting on zero until Saturday Awards. We will not invent a task list or a payout table. Open the tab in the live HUD. Do the tasks that already sit on your path — enrol, train, submit — and spend the Gems with the same order as competition Gems. Full walkthrough: earn Gems from quests. Patch notes: three live features.

Quests are not promo codes. Do not paste a quest name into the redeem box.

What Gems should buy

Packs can contain dancers, songs, costumes, teachers. Spend in this order unless a patch says otherwise:

  1. Teachers if your roster cannot train — stats beat glitter. See teachers.
  2. Dancers if you cannot field a soloist or a full group. See dancers.
  3. Songs if you are locked out of a category you need for Awards (20+ tracks exist, not all unlocked on day one).
  4. Costumes last, unless you are already competing and presentation is the gap.

Opening every pack the moment you have 10 Gems is how you own six costumes and zero teachers.

Competitions pay both

Enter comps even when you will not win. The Awards post promises an entrant reward on that weekly show. Regular comps are the farm; Awards are the spike. Cross-server scoring means you are not farming a dead 10-player lobby — you are on the worldwide board described in competitions.

Second story and big Cash sinks

Update 1 art is literally a two-story studio. The how-to reel shows a large Cash number on the second-story purchase (community reports read 500,000 on the tutorial overlay). We will not treat that overlay as a patched API value, but you should expect a large Cash gate. Save for it only after enrolment is already printing. Stairs that cost a smaller Cash amount (the tutorial also flashes a staircase price) are part of the same build chain.

Play the currencies in the order the studio wrote them. Everything else is cosmetics and ego.
