Run a Dance Studio Routine styles tier list
What to choreograph for Nationals and the weekly Roblox Awards.
Style is how a routine reads in one second of a judge cam. Dance Interactive has already named lyrical in pre-launch tags and put Contemporary Open on the Roblox Awards graphic. This list ranks styles by event pressure, not by which one is “real dance.”
S — Whatever the Awards clock says
If the weekly graphic says Contemporary Open, contemporary is S-tier that week. The clock is on Roblox Awards and the schedule. Choreograph to the category that can pay Top 3 Gems, not to the song you unlocked first.
Bring a matching track from the 20+ unlockable pool. If you cannot swap songs without re-recording, pick the category before you spend an evening on moves — create a routine.
S — Solo and group as formats
Awards are split Solo + Group. Those are formats, not genres, and they are both S-tier because qualification needs one Nationals of each. A lyrical solo without a group piece cannot enter the weekly show. A huge production without a soloist has the same problem. Details: competitions.
A — Lyrical
Pre-launch posts explicitly tagged lyrical solos. It is the emotional close-up style the marketing already knows how to screenshot. A-tier every week, S-tier when the clock matches. Train a soloist for it — dancer list.
A — Multi-formation contemporary / jazz-funk pictures
Update 1 (4 September) added multiple formations in the same dance. Any style that can show a picture change (line to floor, clump to hit) jumped in value. Official art shows black rehearsal kits doing exactly that. If your piece is one blob for 30 seconds, it is now behind the meta even if the song is pretty. See formations.
B — Costume-led novelty
Pack costumes are real. Novelty pieces are fun for Studio of the Month screenshots and Instagram recreations (owners already recreate routines in real life). B-tier for Awards until a category asks for it. Spend Gems on teachers first — teacher list.
C — Unsaved experiments
Slots are limited unless you bought Routine Creator (up to 10). Do not burn your two qualification pieces on a joke track. Experiment after both Nationals marks exist.
How style meets the building
Contemporary on a dark unreadable floor looks cheaper than lyrical on a clean DESIGN’d stage. BUILD → DESIGN is not separate from style. Build your studio so the camera can see the formation ghosts.
How style meets ELO
Boards do not publish a style breakdown. Elite Superstars and Ace Dance Works got callouts without a genre label. Copy their completeness (both formats, trained bodies, formation changes). Copying a rumored “secret lyrical ID” is not a plan — leaderboard.

- Read the Awards graphic.
- Pick the matching saved routine, or rebuild if you only have the other style.
- Confirm qualification.
- Submit.
If Diamond Dance Extravaganza gets its own clock, we will add a row here instead of pretending it is the same as Awards. Until the studio posts that clock, treat Awards as the S-tier show and regular Nationals as the farm.
Style is a calendar skill. Keep one solo and one group alive, keep a contemporary option after that graphic, and do not let a costume pack decide your genre.
