Run a Dance Studio How to get and design costumes

Costumes are the screenshot layer of Run a Dance Studio. They do not enrol dancers, they do not raise stats, and they do not qualify you for Roblox Awards. They are still the thing owners screenshot after a Champion title. This page is how costumes actually enter the game, what Update 1 added, and when to spend Gems on clothes instead of teachers.

Dance Interactive’s launch loop is explicit: enrol for Cash, train with teachers, compete for Cash and Gems, then open packs for dancers, songs, costumes, and teachers. Costumes sit in that last verb. If you reverse the order, you get a pretty lobby and a flat ELO.

Where costumes come from

The studio has not published a costume shop with a Cash price list. Public posts put costumes in Gem packs next to dancers, songs, and teachers. That means:

1. Earn Gems from competitions and the Quest tab.
2. Open packs only after your soloist and group core are trained.
3. Dress the bodies you will actually submit, not the twenty extras sitting in inventory.

If a clip promises a costume code, treat it like any other promo code: unverified until Dance Interactive posts it. There is still no confirmed in-game gift code as of early September 2026.

Update 1 mystery pieces

On 4 September 2026 the official account listed 5 mystery costume pieces in the same BIG update as two-story studios, formation changes, nine new moves, Fuse, batch delete, and gold furniture. Mystery means the studio did not name the items in the caption. Look in pack results and in the costume inventory after you update. Do not buy a reseller “leak sheet.”

Those five pieces are a reason to open a pack after Awards qualification is already done for the week. They are not a reason to skip Nationals.

Costume Designer Gamepass

The live store includes Costume Designer at 799 Robux. The public description on the listing is empty, so the name is the spec: extra costume design tools, not a free pack dump. It is optional. The first routines and the first costumes from packs work without it.

Buy it only when DESIGN-for-bodies is the bottleneck — you already have pieces and you want to recut them — not when you have zero Gems and an untrained roster. Prices and buy order live on the Gamepasses tool. Studio Designer is the building cousin; Costume Designer is the wardrobe cousin. Neither replaces teachers.

Guest judges and presentation

Dance Interactive billed a special guest appearance for Shannon Atkins around 2 September 2026. Awards packing lists from the studio already say get costumes ready. Presentation is part of the fantasy even if the score formula is unpublished. Dress the submitted soloist and the group core. Do not dress twenty unused dancers the night before the 24-entrant lobby.

If you record with Dynamic Cameras, costumes read on the clip. A formation change in black-on-black leotards can disappear on a dark stage. Contrast matters once multiple formations are in one dance.

What not to spend on

• Costumes before teachers. Stats make ELO. Clothes make thumbnails. See earn cash and gems.
• Costume Designer before two saved routines. Choreography is the product. Create a routine first.
• Gold furniture thinking it is a costume. Update 1 gold furniture is a lobby flex for high rollers, not a judged overlay. Building notes: build your studio.
• Resetting the studio because you hate a look. Use DESIGN on the building and the costume inventory on the bodies. Reset may wipe trained stats.

A practical wardrobe loop

Monday–Thursday: train, enrol, one routine revision. Friday: confirm Solo and Group Nationals marks, then open one pack if Gems remain. Put new pieces on the submitted bodies. Saturday/Sunday: Awards if qualified. After the lobby: spend leftover Gems on the hole judges just showed you — a teacher if stats lost, a song if the category was the gap, a costume only if the clip looked unfinished.

Featured real-life dancers on the roster (asha, lilkira) still need clothes that match the piece you built, not the outfit they wear in a launch trailer. The dancer tier list is who to train. This page is what to put on them.

Costumes are how a studio looks like a studio. They are not how a studio wins. Fund the wardrobe from Gems you already earned, dress the routine you will actually send, and keep the Awards schedule on the calendar so the clothes have a show to walk into.
